Upcoming Exclusive Vernissage – A Meeting with Two Visionary Artists
We are delighted to invite you to an exceptional evening of art and conversation at the upcoming vernissage on Friday 7 November 2025, 19:30 at the VSC Eventcenter, Blikstraat 1, 2110 Wijnegem. This is your chance to engage personally with two remarkable artists: Belgian resin artist Joke Verrelst and art photographer Eddy Van Gestel.
Meet the Artists
Joke Verrelst
Born in Belgium in 1982, Joke started her professional life in pharmacy – but creativity always called. In 2016 she began exploring abstract painting, and during the pandemic she discovered resin as an artistic medium. It was then she developed her signature style: three-dimensional portraits and compositions built from tub-shaped resin blocks (or “kuipvormige blokjes”) that play with light, colour and subtle layering.
Her technique: each resin cube is cast by hand, coloured manually, and assembled into a mosaic-like structure in which height, colour and material merge to create a surprising whole.
These works invite viewers to step closer, to discover the details and reflect on how the small elements build meaning and emotion. When you meet Joke in person, you’ll gain insight into how her materials transform into poetic narratives.

Eddy Van Gestel

Eddy Van Gestel is a Belgian art photographer whose journey has taken him from Europe to the heart of Africa. Based out of Antwerp and also living on the island of Lamu, Kenya, his work draws heavily on his love for the continent and his passion for visual storytelling.
Over decades, Eddy has published several coffee-table books — for example Africa XL and Perla Nera — and has exhibited large format works internationally.
His photographs are characterised by restraint and simplicity, yet profound in atmosphere and graphic strength: he seeks the line between reality and impression.
At the vernissage, you can engage with him about how living and working in Lamu influences his visual language, how light, place and culture merge in his images, and how he continues to explore themes such as identity, body, and landscape.
Why Attend?
This isn’t just a viewing — it’s an immersive meeting with artists who transform materials and vision into emotional, meaningful works. Whether you are an art collector, design-enthusiast or simply someone intrigued by innovative artistic expression, this event offers far more than a typical gallery opening.
You’ll leave with new perspectives on how everyday materials (resin blocks, light, landscape) can be used to tell stories, evoke feeling and challenge the familiar.
